Depending on where you are located, purchases of GoodSync products may be subject to sales tax or Value Added Tax (VAT).
United States (Sales Tax)
Products and services sold by Siber Systems, Inc., the company that develops and sells GoodSync, may be subject to state and local sales tax.
Whether sales tax is charged depends on several factors, including:
- The type of product or service being purchased
- The purchaser's billing location
- Applicable state and local tax laws
To comply with US tax regulations, Siber Systems, Inc. calculates and applies the appropriate sales tax based on the purchaser's location whenever the purchased products or services are taxable.
If your organization qualifies for a sales tax exemption, please see US Sales Tax Exemption Certificates for GoodSync Purchases for instructions on how to submit your exemption certificate before completing your purchase.
Outside the United States (VAT)
In many countries, purchases of digital products and services are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT).
The VAT charged depends on:
- The customer's country or region
- The type of product or service being purchased
- Local tax laws applicable to digital goods and services
For GoodSync Business purchases, customers are given the opportunity to enter their VAT Identification Number during checkout.
Submitted VAT numbers are validated using the European Commission's VAT Information Exchange System (VIES). If the VAT number is successfully validated, VAT may be removed from the purchase where permitted under applicable local and European Union tax laws.
To comply with local tax regulations, Siber Systems, Inc. calculates and applies the appropriate VAT rate based on the purchaser's location whenever the purchased products or services are taxable.
