This article applies to GoodSync for Windows and GoodSync for Mac unless noted otherwise.
If a conflict occurs and the only difference between the files is the creation time, GoodSync can resolve the conflict by using a Copy Time action instead of copying the entire file. This saves time and bandwidth because the file data does not need to be transferred again.
The steps below show how to identify and resolve this type of conflict.
1) First, confirm that the conflict is time-related.
In the example below, the L Size and R Size values are the same, which means the file size matches on both sides. The conflict is reported as R:TimeSize<>, and the file times are different between the Left and Right sides.
Since the file size is the same and only the time value differs, this conflict can be resolved by copying the time instead of copying the full file.
2) To resolve the conflict, right-click the Job name or open the Action menu, then select Change Direction to.
You will see two available Copy Time options:
Copy Time L to R - Copies the file time from the Left side to the Right side.
Copy Time R to L - Copies the file time from the Right side to the Left side.
Choose the option that matches the file time you want to keep. GoodSync will update the file time on the other side without copying the full file.
3) After selecting the appropriate Copy Time option, confirm that the conflict will be resolved by reviewing the icon shown in the middle column.
The icon should indicate that GoodSync will copy the file time instead of copying the full file.
Once confirmed, click Sync to complete the sync and resolve the conflicts.
4) When the sync is complete, an equal sign will appear in the middle column.
This confirms that the files are now in sync and the conflict has been resolved.
