GoodSync supports portable paths for removable drives. This allows a job to continue working even if the removable drive receives a different drive letter the next time it is connected.
A portable path can be entered in the Left or Right sync folder field using this format:
=VolumeName:\folder1\folder2
In this format, VolumeName is the volume label of the removable drive. The volume label can be viewed or changed from the drive properties in Windows File Explorer.
When a path is entered in portable format, GoodSync searches all removable drives connected to the computer and looks for a drive with the matching volume label.
For example, if the removable drive is assigned a drive letter E: today, but later appears as F:, GoodSync can still locate the folder as long as the volume label remains the same.
GoodSync2Go
When selecting a folder in GoodSync2Go, the drive letter is automatically replaced with:
%GSDISK%
This allows GoodSync2Go to locate its sync folders regardless of which computer the removable drive is connected to.
