GoodSync can be configured to send email alerts and reports. To do so, you must first configure your SMTP options by following the steps below.

Windows:
1) Open GoodSync and then click the "Tools" menu in the upper left.
2) Click "Program Options."
3) Select "Connection" from the column on the left.
4) On the Connection page you may specify your SMTP server, User ID and password, sender email, and authentication. An example can be seen below.
Overview of the Connections Tab on Windows:
Use Proxy server used by Internet Explorer for remote connections (checked by default)
If this option is checked, GoodSync will use the same proxy server as the one that Internet Explorer and WinINET use.
Use this Proxy server for remote connections (unchecked by default)
If this option is checked, use the proxy server you have specified in the fields below. Once this box is checked you can input your Proxy Server and Port.
Proxy UserID and Password (empty by default)
If these fields are not empty, use these credentials as UserID and Password for Proxy specified.
If these fields are empty, and you plan to use a specified proxy server, fill out the User ID and Password for the proxy.
Trust System Root Certification Authorities (checked by default)
This option allows third-party programs (such as AV programs) to listen in on GoodSync communications over TLS, if they add their certificate to systems storage.
Use SMTP server to send emails (checked by default)
If this option is checked, GoodSync will use SMTP server specified below.
If this option is unchecked, GoodSync will use default MAPI client of your computer to send these emails.
SMTP Server and Port (empty by default)
Server: The IP name or address of SMTP server that is used to send emails.
Port: The port on SMTP server that is used to send emails.
Default port values:
- SMTP over TLS - 587
- SMTP over SSL - 465
- Unsecured SMTP -25
SMTP UserID and Password (empty by default)
If your SMTP server requires authentication, specify your credentials here.
Sender's Email (empty by default)
E-mail address of the sender that GoodSync will use when sending an email.
Secure SMTP submit over SSL (unchecked by default)
If this option is checked, GoodSync will connect to SMTP server and switch to Secure SSL mode without negotiation.
If this option is unchecked, GoodSync will use plain text communication.
Secure SMTP submit using STARTTLS (unchecked by default)
If this option is checked, GoodSync will issue STARTTLS to request a switch to Secure SSL mode, then switch to SSL/TLS mode if the server agrees.
If this option is unchecked, GoodSync will use plain text communication.
Mac:
1) Open GoodSync and then click the "GoodSync" menu in the upper left in the Menu bar.
2) Click "Preferences..."
3) Select the "Connection" tab in the upper right of the Preferences menu.
4) On the Connection page you may specify your SMTP server, User ID and password, sender email, and authentication. An example can be seen below.

Do not use Proxy server (unchecked by default)
GoodSync will not use a proxy server if this is checked.
Use System Proxy settings (checked by default)
GoodSync will use the proxy server defined in System Preferences
Use this Proxy server for remote connections (unchecked by default)
