User Setup (Linux Control Center Runner)

The following steps explain how to install and register a Linux Job Runner with GoodSync Control Center.

Important: A Company PIN is required when registering a new Runner. All installation examples below include the required /cc-copin parameter.

Existing registered Runners do not need to be reinstalled or registered again.

Step 1: Download the Linux Runner

Download the Linux installer from the following link: GoodSync CC Runner for Linux.

This installer is for Linux x86_64 systems.

Step 2: Locate Your Company ID and Company PIN

Open https://jobs.goodsync.com/ and sign in to your company account.

Locate your Company ID under Settings > Company Settings.

Your Company ID identifies the Control Center company to which the Runner will register.

Company PIN: If your company already has a PIN configured, use that PIN when installing new Runners.

If no Company PIN has been configured, a Control Center administrator must create one:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Company Settings.
3. Click Edit Company Settings.
4. Enter a Company PIN and save your changes.

New Company PINs must contain 8–20 letters or numbers.

Note: The Company PIN is used to authorize new Runner registrations for your company.

Step 3: Grant Installer Permissions

Open a Linux terminal and navigate to the directory where the installer was downloaded.

Before running the installer, grant it execution permissions using the following command:

chmod +x ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run

If the command completes successfully, no confirmation message is normally displayed.

Step 4: Install the Linux Runner

You can install the Linux Runner using the interactive installer or provide your company information directly in the installation command.

Interactive Installation

To start the installer and enter the required information when prompted, run:

sudo ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run

Follow the prompts and provide your Company ID, Company PIN, GoodSync account information, and other requested installation settings.

Installation with Account Sync

To include the Company ID, Company PIN, and GoodSync account User ID directly in the installation command, use:

sudo ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run /cc-coid=YOUR_COMPANY_ID /cc-copin=YOUR_COMPANY_PIN /gs-userid=YOUR_GOODSYNC_USER_ID

Example:

sudo ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run /cc-coid=12345 /cc-copin=12345678 /gs-userid=yourcompany-companydomain-com

Important: Replace the example values with your actual Company ID, Company PIN, and GoodSync User ID.

The /gs-userid value must be your GoodSync account User ID, which may be different from your email address.

Use a GoodSync account associated with the correct Control Center company.

Without Account Sync (Legacy Installations)

For older Control Center environments that do not use Account Sync, the GoodSync account User ID parameter can be omitted.

sudo ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run /cc-coid=YOUR_COMPANY_ID /cc-copin=YOUR_COMPANY_PIN

Note: This option is intended for legacy configurations. Current Control Center installations using Account Sync require a GoodSync account User ID.

Self-Hosted Control Center

If using an existing self-hosted Control Center, include the /cc-url parameter to specify your server address.

sudo ./cc-runner-install-x86_64-release.run /cc-coid=YOUR_COMPANY_ID /cc-copin=YOUR_COMPANY_PIN /gs-userid=YOUR_GOODSYNC_USER_ID /cc-url=http://YOUR_SERVER_IP

Replace the example server address with the address of your self-hosted Control Center.

Note: Self-hosted Control Center is no longer offered for new purchases.

Step 5: Complete the Installer Setup

Depending on the installation options provided, the Linux installer may prompt for the following information:

• Installation Directory – Specifies the location where the Runner will be installed.
• System User – Specifies the Linux user account under which the Runner will operate.
• Job Server URL – Specifies the Control Center server.
  • Default: https://jobs.goodsync.com/
  • If using an existing self-hosted Control Center, enter your server address.
• License Type – Select the appropriate license for your device.
  • Server: Select Y (Yes) to register as a Server.
  • Workstation: Select N (No) to register as a Workstation.
• Company ID – Identifies the Control Center company to which the Runner will connect.
  • Found in GoodSync Control Center under Settings > Company Settings.
• Company PIN – Required to register the Runner with your Control Center company.
  • Enter the Company PIN configured by your Control Center administrator.
• Account Sync (GoodSync Account) – Determines whether the Runner uses GoodSync account-based job synchronization.
  • Y (Yes): Enables Account Sync for the current Control Center configuration.
  • N (No): Disables Account Sync for legacy configurations.
• GoodSync Account User ID – Enter the GoodSync User ID when Account Sync is enabled.
• Encryption Password – Optional password used to encrypt uploaded accounts and jobs.

Important: Make sure you select the correct license type and provide the correct Company ID and Company PIN before completing the installation.

Step 6: Verify the Runner Installation

Once the installation is complete, the device should appear in GoodSync Control Center under the Runners tab.

The Runner will be listed in the following format:

UserID@DeviceName

Open GoodSync Control Center and locate the newly registered Linux device.

Step 7: Authorize the New Runner

Before the Runner can receive and execute assigned jobs, it must be authorized in Control Center.

1. Open the Runners tab.
2. Locate the newly registered Linux Runner.
3. Select the checkbox next to the Runner.
4. Click Actions > Authorize.
5. Save the changes.

Once authorized, the Runner should display Authorized: True.

After the Runner connects successfully, its status should display as Online.

The Linux Runner is now registered and ready to receive jobs assigned through GoodSync Control Center.

Installation Parameters and Options

The following parameters can be used when providing installation information through the Linux command line:

• /cc-coid=CompanyID – Specifies the Company ID used to register the Runner.
• /cc-copin=YourCompanyPIN – Specifies the Company PIN required for new Runner registration.
• /gs-userid=GoodSyncUserID – Specifies the GoodSync account User ID used for Account Sync.
• /cc-url=ServerURL – Specifies a custom Control Center server URL. 
  Default: https://jobs.goodsync.com/

Security Note: Protect installation scripts containing Company PINs. These should only be accessible to authorized administrators.
