This article provides an overview of the Auto section of Job Options. It applies to GoodSync for Windows and GoodSync for Mac unless noted otherwise.

Auto Analyze and Sync
On File Change (default delay: 20 seconds)
Monitors the source, destination, or both for file changes and automatically runs Analyze and Sync after the specified delay.
The Delay value specifies how many seconds GoodSync waits after the most recently detected change before starting Analyze and Sync.
On File Change supports the following file systems:
- Windows file systems and local disks, except drive root folders.
- Windows network shares, except NAS devices that do not properly report file changes.
- Mac file systems and local disks.
- Any of the supported file systems above when accessed remotely through the GSTP protocol using GoodSync Connect.
NOTE: Changes that occur during Analyze or Sync are detected and processed during the next run.
On Folders Connect
Runs Analyze and Sync when a specified job folder becomes available.
GoodSync checks the availability of the Left and Right folders every 3 minutes.
The following events can accelerate the detection of a connected or disconnected folder:
- Inserting or ejecting a removable drive or portable volume.
- Connecting to or disconnecting from a network used by FTP, SFTP, or DAV folders.
Do not use this option together with On File Change because On Folders Connect takes precedence.
On GoodSync Start (default delay: 0 seconds)
Runs Analyze and Sync when the GoodSync application starts.
The Delay value specifies how many seconds GoodSync waits after the application starts before running the job.
Do not use this option together with On File Change because On GoodSync Start takes precedence.
NOTE: This option is not available in Unattended mode because the GoodSync Runner Service remains running independently of the GoodSync application.
Periodically (On Timer), Every (default period: 2 hours and 0 minutes)
Runs Analyze and Sync repeatedly at the specified interval. Enter the interval in hours and minutes.
On Logoff
Runs Analyze and Sync immediately before the current Windows or Mac user logs off.
Windows may attempt to close GoodSync during logoff. Windows normally detects active file operations and allows them to finish, but job completion is not guaranteed.
NOTE: This option is not available in Unattended mode because the GoodSync Runner Service remains running after the user logs off.
On Schedule
Runs Analyze and Sync according to the specified schedule.
The following scheduling values can be configured:
- Minute: 0 to 59
- Hour: 0 to 23
- Day of Month: 1 to 31
- Month: 1 to 12
- Day of Week: 0 = Sunday through 6 = Saturday
NOTE: When a field is left blank, GoodSync runs the job for every valid value within that field's range.
If the computer enters Sleep or Standby mode, GoodSync can wake it to run an On Schedule job. On Windows, ensure wake timers are enabled under Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Sleep > Allow Wake Timers.
Run in the GoodSync Interface or Runner Service
Run without User Interface (Unattended) (unchecked by default)
This option applies to all Auto modes except On GoodSync Start and On Logoff.
When enabled, the job runs through the GoodSync Runner Service. This allows automatic jobs to run when the user is logged off or the GoodSync application is closed.
When this option is enabled, GoodSync opens Runner Service Setup and prompts for the password of the currently signed-in system user. This allows the Runner Service to impersonate that user and access the required files, folders, and network resources.
Runner Service Setup can also be opened manually from Tools > Runner Service Setup on Windows or GoodSync > Runner Service Setup on Mac.

NOTE: To edit a job that runs in Unattended mode, disable this option first.
Advanced Auto Options
Do Not Sync if Changed Files More Than (enabled at 50% by default)
For two-way jobs, automatic Sync does not run when the percentage of changed files exceeds the specified threshold.
An unusually high percentage of changed files may indicate an unexpectedly large-scale event that requires review, such as ransomware or accidental deletion.
Wait for Locks to Clear (enabled by default)
When enabled, automatic jobs wait for the lock files to clear before immediately reporting an error.
Auto Clear the Tree after Analyze/Sync Has Finished (disabled by default)
When enabled, GoodSync automatically clears the displayed changes tree after Analyze or Sync finishes.
